Groupama Team France ha presentato la barca prototipo per America’s Cup 35

E’ stato presentato lunedì 11 luglio 2016 a Lorient, Bretagna, il catamarano AC Class che farà da barca test per Groupama Team France in vista della prossima America’s Cup.

A “battezzarlo” il quattro volte campione del mondo di Formula 1 Alain Prost. Presenti alla cerimonia Franck Cammas (giusto il tempo di partecipare alla Malcesine Cup – Foiling week sui GC32), Michel Desjoyeaux, Olivier de Kersauson, e tutto il team.

Da questo e fino a dicembre questo prototipo con foil sarà utilizzato sulle acque bretoni per allenamento, convalida delle scelte tecniche fatte fin da ottobre 2015 e sviluppo di nuove parti. La barca definitiva, che parteciperà alla Coppa America a Bermuda nel 2017, sarà identica ma semplicemente un metro e mezzo più lunga.

Ma perché un 45 piedi quando l’America’s Cup si disputerà su dei 50? Semplicemente perché il protocollo vieta che gli AC50 navighino prima del dicembre 2016. Così i sei team in competizione – un Defender e cinque Challengers – hanno costruito dei prototipi che sono al 90% repliche delle barche della 35° edizione della Coppa America.

La barca è progettata, sotto la guida del talento tedesco Martin Fischer e da una trentina di architetti navali e ingegneri – tra cui il franco-argentino Juan Kouyoumdjian e il brasiliano Horacio Carabelli -, è stato costruita dai cantieri Multiplast e Décision yards in meno di sei mesi.

La struttura dell’ala, le appendici (timoni e foil), i sistemi elettronici ed idraulici di controllo e le “carenature” sono libere.
