This is something that I commented at the very beginning, when I saw the first communication notes, before going out, and probably the only thing this chap is half right. The price MYDA 2009 does not belong to the BD56 but to the 50IP, the design (never built) in which the BD56 is based almost 90% of it. However literally speaking it does not belong to the BD56 formally but substantially.

Attached an image that shows how the outboard are set and how they retract when sailing under sail. The weigh balance is something taken into consideration since the earlier stages of the design, as it’s a critical aspect. Also it’s important to remark that, as a planning boat, the LCB and therefore LCG are moved backwards if compared to a typical sailing boat hull.

This is one important aspects of the boat (fuel), essential in a motor sailor. The position onboard, in the bilge, in the deepest part of the boat and close to the LCG makes the weight balance right and compensated.

Here we have a clear example that each person has the right to decide whether a design likes him or not.

The lifting keel allows the boat to approach shallow water, as it’s a cruising motor sailor. It does not create any problem at all for planning ( as good prove of that is all the VOR or similar boats planning at higher speeds with keels that are even bigger). Also in our case we reduce wetted surface a bit. Extensive CFD have been done to corroborate this.
